Army arrests Boko Haram terrorist in Sapele

The Nigerian Army has arrested a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Bukar Abacha, who allegedly entered Sapele in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State to continue the nefarious act of the religious sect.
Abacha, who hails from Dikwa in Borno State was apprehended in the Hausa Quarters, after the army received a tip-off from members of the Arewa (Hausa) community in Sapele, who suspected his strange movement few hours after he entered town.
Following this, the residents immediately alerted the army which swung into action.
Speaking against the backdrop of the arrest, a senior army officer of the 19 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Koko, who craved for anonymity, urged members of the public to be vigilant by paying more attention to strange people in their locality.
He said the army saw the need to sensitise the public on the presence of the terrorists who were now scattered in various localities across the country, especially in the Southern part of the country.
“We are partners in progress. If the efforts will yield result then there is need for cooperation. Thank God for the leaders of the Hausa community here who alerted us. We call on the vigilante groups to step up more commitment in their collaboration with army to wipe crime,” the source said.
While assuring the public of their safety, the source reiterated that the army was unrelenting on clamping down on criminal offenders involved in kidnapping, oil bunkering/pipeline vandalism and armed robbery.
The army went on sensitisation tour in Sapele metropolis in what it called “show of force confidence building patrol” pasting posters of the 100 most wanted Boko Haram terrorists in strategic locations around town.
Meanwhile, the arrested terrorist suspect has been transferred to the Defense headquarters in Abuja for further investigation.
