EFCC RAIDS FORMER VICE PRESIDENT NAMADI SAMBO’S ABUJA OFFICE.
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided the Abuja offices of former Vice President Namadi Sambo in the central business district at the weekend.
Daily Trust gathered that the office of the former Vice President was raided on Saturday night as part of ongoing investigation into the arms procurement scam.
It was also learnt that the office was raided in an attempt to obtain documents linking the office of the former Vice President to the arms deal fund.
EFCC sources hinted that the former VP’s office is being investigated over allegations that some of the funds disbursed for political campaigns under the former NSA Sambo Dasuki were routed through the VP’s office.
Update : A source close to the operation confirmed to Vanguard on Monday that the operatives broke into the Safe kept by the former vice president and removed whatever valuable they found, including top branded wrist watches, assets declaration forms, and list of landed property and the $50,000 cash.
The raid, it was learnt followed the discovery that one of Sambo’s aide, known as Daboh, was found to have collected the sum of N25 million from the embattled National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisah Metuh, as part of the sum he got from the former NSA, Dasuki Sambo.
