Rivers LG boss declared wanted by the Police


The chairman, caretaker committee of Asari-Toru local government area of Rivers state, Ambassador Soboma Jackrich has been declared wanted by the Force Headquarters for his alleged involvement in the recent killings in the state.


Ambassador Soboma Jackrich is popularly known as ‘Egberi Papa’ in the state.
It has been said that helicopters would be deployed where necessary, to ensure a peaceful National and State Assembly re-run elections in the state on Saturday, March 19. There is also the promise to come in hard on anyone, who poses as a threat or has plans to cause crisis and unrest during the exercise.


 This was stated by Mr. Sotonye Wakama, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of Operations at the Police Officers’ Mess in Port Harcourt during a meeting with leaders and contestants of the various political parties.

Wakama lamented on the issues in the state, stating that the once peaceful state has been turned into a battle field in the past few years, by desperate politicians. He however, stated that the time has come for the killings to stop. He also said some persons have been apprehended and arrested in connection with the recent killings in the state.

“The force is deeply saddened by these tragic and senseless killings while our heart and sincere condolence goes to the bereaved families.  We must realise that violence is never and will never be a solution to any problem.

“While investigation is ongoing on the cases, let me at this juncture inform you that the Force will stop at nothing to bring to book the perpetrators of not only these recent killings but all similar incidents.

“It is also noteworthy to let you know that Asinton Jackrich,  Ipalibo Jackson,  Destiny Lawson and Godknows Cotterel have been on 04/03/2016 charged to court on seven count charge before Magistrate Court 14, Port Harcourt.

“It is pertinent to remind that the suspects were arrested at Buguma on 06/01/2016 after a coordinated raid by the Police where an AK47 rifle and other offensive weapons were recovered from them.  Others who are now at large including  one Sobomabo Jackrich have been declared wanted by the police.” he said.

On political related-issues, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for plotting to rig the re-run election in Rivers state. He stated that the president’s quick reaction to the killings in the state is part of the plot to rig the poll.
